Englewood Cliffs has been the home to LG’s North American headquarters for the past 25 years. The continuing growth of the company means that it now requires more space and a new building that will support further expansion. After more than four years of preparations and obtaining all of the required approvals, LG is ready to begin construction on its new North American headquarters, which will also serve as an example of environmentally-friendly design.
LG Electronics is developing a state-of-the-art “green” building that will serve as a showcase for environmentally-friendly design at its new North American headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. The project will bring significant benefits to the Borough of Englewood Cliffs, to Bergen County and to the State of New Jersey.
The support of the community has always been important to LG. In 2011, for example, six public hearings were held as part of a fully transparent two-year process during which LG engaged with many local residents, listening closely to their ideas and opinions and making changes to the plan as a result of their input.
In addition to retaining hundreds of existing jobs, the new project is expected to create hundreds of new construction jobs and ultimately thousands of direct and indirect jobs as LG expands its workforce in the coming years.
LG is aspiring to achieve LEED Platinum, the highest green building certification available. “This incredible new green project shows LG’s dedication to New Jersey” -Kathleen A. Donovan, Bergen County Executive. LG has designed a building and landscaping that embodies the company’s commitment to sustainability.
LG will invest more than $2 million to create the LG Science & Environmental Learning Center in the new building, a resource for local children and schools to learn about technology and sustainable living.
